Not so long ago, browser advertising campaigns were centered in things like high speeds, universal access, media downloading, etc., while today it is difficult to find a browser's name without the word "secure" in it. Fort-Knox security and privacy features have now become the ultimate way to lure customers to download and use a certain browser instead of that of their competitors.

Private browsing via VPN solutions, anti-fingerprinting technologies, ad-blocking options, anti-tracking technologies, you name it — "secure" seems to be the word today when it comes to navigating the web. And AVG Secure Browser has it all — the word in the name and all the security and safety options you can think of.

This free browser's appearance does not seem to differ much from that of most of the other browsers out there built on Chromium. However, as part of the Avast portfolio — one of the leading manufacturers of antivirus tools and other software solutions to protect your PC and your privacy — it was only normal that AVG Secure Browser would be one step ahead of everyone else when it comes to security measures. If you happen to have any AVG antivirus tool installed on your computer — if you don't, the browser will ask you nicely every now and then — the browser will know and will make the most of working together with them.

But even if you don't, you will find plenty of security options in the browser's Privacy Guard settings. There you can choose among Basic Blocking, Balanced Blocking, and Strict Blocking of trackers and pop-up and banner ads. When you select this last option, you'll be kindly reminded that "certain" ads might be necessary for the company to keep offering you the browser for free, though the browser will respect your choice and take you there if you wish. If you wish to block all ads, even those that appear when searching the web, you'll need to go Pro for a small fee.

You will also navigate faster than you did before, but just because the browser will block all ads and all other unwanted items and therefore pages will take shorter to load. Everything else you get out of secure browsers nowadays seems to be a consequence of this or other security feature, which is great.

A funny little thing that I found quite appealing is the browser's Screen Sharing mode. It is surely a mixture of today's two trending topics — remote and/or telework and privacy. This tiny feature will simply hide all those tabs that others do not need to see on your browser while you share your screen with them while online. Nothing much, I know, but I found it clever and extremely useful.

If Internet security is one of your main concerns when choosing the right browser for you, consider trying AVG Secure Browser first. Its wide range of features regarding you and your system's security will surely surprise you. Or maybe not anymore.
